Caring For the Skin You're In

Over the course of our lives I'm sure we've ALL heard about how the skin is the largest organ of the body and how important it is. There is no denying that what keeps our insides...well...inside, is paramount to our health and wellbeing. Our skin is made up of 2 main divisions starting with the outermost layer called the epidermis. The epidermis itself is composed of 6 layers . The second division is called the Dermis, which is made up of 2 layers.

To keep our skin glowing and healthy, I recommend using essential oils, but before that, I recommend balancing the diet as this is the foundation for healthy skin. When we look at our intake of food and drink on a daily basis, it's really beneficial to pay attention to the essential nutrients and how many of them you're getting them.

ESSENTIAL NUTRIENTS

1. Carbs

2 Vitamins (ie. Vitamin C, Vitamin D)

3. Fats (ie. Polyunsaturated fat)

4. Minerals

5. Proteins (Yes they come from plant sources too!)

Naturally I always encourage everyone to keep up their water intake to at least 6-8 glasses per day.

Now, on to the essential oils. Here are some great oils to use on the skin (preferably diluted in a carrier oil most of the time).

Basil, Bergamot, Cedarwood, Clary Sage, Coriander, Cypress, Frankincense, Geranium Grapefruit, Helichrysum, Jasmine, Juniper Berry, Lavender, Melaleuca, Myrrh, Patchouli, Rose & Sandalwood. All of these oils have wonderful properties that promote the health and wellness of the skin. Click here to learn more about these oils and their properties! Want Oils? Click here!
